Conister Bank contributes to strong H1 2026 performance for Manx Financial Group

Conister Bank has reported continued growth during the first half of 2026, with its net loan book reaching £410.3 million and deposits standing at £440.8 million at the end of June.

The figures, published as part of parent company Manx Financial Group PLC’s interim results for the six months ended 30 June 2026, reflect continued growth across several of the Bank’s core lending activities while maintaining strong capital and liquidity positions.

Growth during the period was particularly encouraging across unsecured personal lending, block discounting and specialist finance.

Despite continued economic pressures facing consumers and businesses across the UK, arrears and impairment trends remained within the Board’s expectations, with Conister continuing to take a prudent approach to underwriting and credit quality.

The Bank’s £440.8 million deposit base has supported continued lending growth and the effective deployment of capital, while maintaining a substantial liquidity surplus.

As an independent Isle of Man bank, Conister continues to benefit from its position from its position in a resilient local economy and the strong levels of liquidity available on the Island. Its deposit base provides funding that can be deployed across a diverse lending portfolio, supporting individuals and businesses both on the Isle of Man and throughout the UK.

Douglas Grant, Managing Director of Conister Bank and Group CEO, said:

“The first half of 2026 has seen Conister continue to grow while maintaining the strong capital, liquidity and prudent approach to lending that underpin our business.

“Reaching a net loan book of £410.3 million is an important milestone and reflects the continued demand we are seeing across our lending activities.

“Our strong deposit base on the Isle of Man gives us the ability to support that demand while maintaining a substantial liquidity surplus. Against an uncertain economic backdrop, we remain focused on disciplined growth, maintaining credit quality and deploying capital into areas where we see attractive, sustainable opportunities.“We are proud of Conister’s position on the Isle of Man and the role the Bank continues to play in supporting customers and businesses both locally and across the UK.”

Manx Financial Group reported a solid overall performance for the first six months of 2026, with Group operating income increasing to £19.7 million from £18.4 million in the corresponding period last year. The Group’s total loan book reached a record £422.9 million, while total equity increased to £45.5 million.

Looking ahead, Conister will continue to focus on sustainable lending growth while exploring opportunities within specialist finance and other areas where the Bank can use its capital and liquidity to deliver long-term value.
